1980s

Comet Lighting & Period Brass Lights opened its first store in Newton Abbot, England, laying the foundation for decades of expertise in the lighting industry.

2010-2015

In the 2010s, the brand transitioned to adapt to modern e-commerce demands.
By 2015, the business officially updated its core identity and ownership name to Comet Lighting Limited.

Around this same period, the brand launched its dedicated e-commerce storefront, and the offline store was moved from the original high street location to a larger commercial space at Unit-3, Henleys Business Park, Newton Abbot.

2024

In 2024, Comet Lighting entered an exciting new chapter.
Recognizing the booming potential of the digital landscape, the company made the strategic decision to transition into a purely online lighting retailer.
The company closed its physical Newton Abbot showroom and completely revamped the online storefront.

2026

In 2026, building upon Comet Lighting’s digital foundation, a new vision came to life under the next generation.
Recognizing a unique opportunity to celebrate and promote India's rich cultural heritage and artisanal craftsmanship across the UK, they embarked on a mission to create something entirely unique. Thus, aartin was born, a brand whose name signifies "art from India."

Meet the Founders

Co-founded by siblings Aditi and Aditya, Aartin is a design-led lighting brand built on two enduring passions: art and India.

It began with a simple belief: lighting should do more than illuminate a room, it should tell a story, celebrate craftsmanship, and bring warmth and character into everyday living.

India is home to generations of extraordinary artisans, yet much of this craftsmanship remains overlooked in a world of mass production. At Aartin, we work closely with skilled makers across craft hubs like Jaipur, Khurja, and Moradabad, creating handcrafted lamps that honour traditional techniques while feeling at home in contemporary spaces.
